Don’t forget to take the 2020 AAPA Salary Survey
The 2019 AAPA salary survey showed that PAs earned a median annual salary of $107,500. It is one of the most comprehensive PA salary reports; but has a lower response rate, with only 13,099 PAs responding in 2019.
The salary report can be a very useful tool in negotiating a contract. However, with a low response rate, it makes it a less valid tool. In order to make it a better tool it is important that every PA take this survey.
The report is released later in the year and is available to all AAPA members for free. The report does a great job of breaking down salary information for PAs. No other report shows the breakdown of base salary versus bonus compensation. It shows PA salaries by state and specialty. It even gives information on other benefits that PAs are given beyond monetary compensation, such as time off, retirement and continuing education

Although, there is a lot of valuable information in the AAPA salary report, it is limited because of the low response rate, and should be used in conjunction with other salary reports to help corroborate the data.
