Live or Online, What Will You Choose for 2021 CME?
Registration for the AAPA 2021 Conference is now open at the early bird pricing. It is a great time to sign up for the conference if you know you’re going to attend, but if you’re like me, you might be a little hesitant. At this point, I still can’t imagine hundreds of people crammed into lectures and am not sure about attending the in-person conference.
Disclosure: I am not paid by the AAPA, but believe that involvement in the AAPA is important for the PA career. Opinions are my own.
The conference is an excellent opportunity to support the AAPA and hear about the latest topics that they are addressing while earning a ton of continuing education hours (if that’s what you want to do). There is a diverse set of topics that are covered, and you can choose an area to focus on.
For new graduates or soon-to-be graduates, there are several opportunities to network and meet contacts that can help you land your first job.
This year they are trying to be flexible with the in-person versus virtual options. If you sign up for the in-person event but decide not to attend, you can choose to do the virtual option instead.
If you’re like me, you might have a lot of CME funds available for 2020, as I was not able to attend a conference this year. I know for some their CME funds were reduced this year because of the financial impact of the shutdown due to the Coronavirus, but if you have extra money leftover in 2020, this might be something you can spend it on.
Another option for using leftover money is to use it on membership fees. Some employers offer to pay for your membership fees; however, some include it as a part of your CME funds. If this is the case, you can use it on membership fees for AAPA or your state organization.
Don’t let your 2020 CME funds run out and sign up for the AAPA conference now.
