Does Your PA Salary Measure Up? | PA-Cents

We have previously discussed different salary reports for Physician Assistants and the most recent NCCPA Annual Report showing the average salary for certified PAs at $104,131. The NCCPA is the certifying body for Physician Assistants and it produces a report which includes some salary information. PAs can use their online profile to see how their salary compares to other certified PAs.

There has been a lot of comments on what is the average salary for PAs with a few people saying that they think these reports are very low. There were other comments from PAs  wondering what they should be making and if they were underpaid.

The data from the NCCPA report comes from online profiles and it is self reported so if you’re not updating your profile the data is going to be old. If you get a raise or your salary changes it is up to you to update your profile.

I think this report is fairly accurate and for every PA making over $200,000 there is someone making $40,000 as PAs doing residencies or fellowships are included as certified PAs and contribute to lowering the average.

If you’re wondering how you’re getting paid compared to other PAs you can log into your NCCPA account and update your profile and it will give you a breakdown of how you’re doing.

If you had a raise or have not updated your profile in a while, help your fellow PAs and update your account so that the data is up to date. As mentioned above this is self reported so it is up to each individual PA to go in and update their profile.
