A search engine is a place to find information. When we think of search engines, Google is the first thing to come to mind. We can type a question into the Google search bar, and we are given results based on relevance to the topic we searched.

Job search engines are similar in that we can enter information about a position we would like to see, and the program searches the internet to give us the most relevant job postings. Instead of finding all the information on the internet included in the words searched, it only searches through job databases.

Only jobs posted on a job board are included in the results when using a job board website. A job search engine allows you to search multiple job boards and websites at once. 

When choosing what job site to go to for your job search, you should understand these differences. If you focus on a specific job board, there might be jobs that you are missing. Using a job search engine allows you to have a more robust search.
