PA Continues to be an In-Demand Job

Great Pay and a Growing Job Market for PAs

PA makes the list for in-demand jobs that pay over $100,000 in a recent article from CNBC.

The information from this article used the Occupational Information Network (O*NET); an online database compiled from the U.S. Department of Labor. “CNBC Make It has rounded up 15 jobs that have a “bright outlook,” meaning that they have a projected employment increase of 10 percent or more between 2016 and 2026, or generate more than 100,000 expected job openings within that period.”

According to the article PA’s make an annual salary of $104,806. This is very close to other numbers we have seen in 2018; with the BLS reporting PA salaries of $104,760, the AAPA reporting PA salaries of $105,000 and the NCCPA $107,718. Although we have seen an increase in salaries for both PAs and NPs one report did show signs of salaries plateauing in 2018.

More importantly for those entering the job market in the coming years it appears you won’t stay unemployed long after graduation. The projected number of job openings from 2016 to 2026 is 10,600. The projected growth within this time frame is much faster than average at 15% or higher.

We may not be seeing the growth in salaries we saw a couple of years ago, but the PA career continues to have a bright future as far as job opportunities and growth. If you’re thinking about pursing the PA career, knowing current salaries and cost of PA school can help you be financially prepared going forward.
