Physician Assistant Grant Opportunities from the nccPA Health Foundation

nccPA Health Foundation Grants for PA Projects

It is often difficult for patients in underserved areas to get appropriate access to health services. PAs and PA students are in a unique position to make a difference in their patients’ lives through increased access to healthcare providers and education. If you have an idea for a project that could help bring healthcare to an underserved population, but don’t have the funds to complete the project, you can obtain a grant to help make it more affordable. The nccPA Health Foundation is a supporting organization for the NCCPA, and was started in 2005 to help PAs improve the health of patients through expanded access to healthcare providers. There are several grants that are available to help PAs make a difference in their communities.

Year-Round Grants for PAs

The Equitable Care Grant, Mental Health Grant, and Oral Health Grants are available on a year-round basis. Any certified PA, PA organization or student working with a PA faculty member can apply for these grants. The applications are accepted year-round, so you can apply at any time.

The Equitable Care Grant is for projects that respond to inequities in the community. The goal of this grant is to help PAs create activities that provide more equitable care through increased access to education and treatments for patients. The grant is for up to $2,500.

The Mental Health Community Outreach Grant should be used to help address mental health needs. It is for up to $1,000 to help PAs fund projects to help the growing need for mental health conditions that affect underserved populations.

There are two grants available for oral health; the Community Outreach for Oral Health Grant and the Research Integration Grant. The Community Outreach Grant is for up to $1,000 to be used toward projects for oral health awareness, prevention, and treatment. The research integration grant is for up to $3,000 to integrate oral health into a PA program curriculum or clinical practice.

Kathy J Pedersen Grant to Promote Equitable Care

The Kathy J Pedersen Grant to Promote Equitable Care is a competitive grant that is awarded on an annual basis. The grant is for up to $5,000, and the application for this year’s grant is currently open. The funds for this grant are to be used for programs that “bridge system gaps, advocate for the underserved or creatively develop resources for those in need”. The application deadline is Wednesday, June 3, 2020.

These grants provide a unique opportunity for PAs to make a difference in their communities. If you have an idea for a project that you think could benefit the underserved populations’ health in your community, you should contact the nccPA Health Foundation for more information on how to apply for these grants.
